GINT-A-CUFFS Update

Well, the deadline to enter is fastly approaching, and it looks like Allen & Ginter is already live! This is going to be the greatest box break battle of all time, and it's great so many of you have signed up! For anyone else who wishes to sign up, you have until tomorrow, Monday July 6th to get in on the action.

Much like with the Turk-Off, when you have this many rules, you need someone impartial to uphold them, and settle any dispute. I am pleased to announce that Mark of the fabulous Mark's Ephemera will be serving as Commissioner for the first ever Gint-A-Cuffs battle.

Mark, my bribe money goes out in the mail tomorrow, please make it count!

Below are the updated scoring rules, and the first "Favorite Players" list. The current roster of contestants can be seen on the sidebar. Once again, if anyone has any scoring questions or concerns, now is the time to voice them. Once the deadline passes, these rules become gospel.

  1. Just to clarify, do we get the points if we pull our own favourite player, or anyone off the list?

    I ordered my box today!

  2. you get more points for pulling your favorite player, but you also get points for pulling anyone's favorite. anyone on the list is worth extra points, but not as much as it would be if you pulled your personal favorite.

  3. What's the pointage for printing plates? And to clarify - Beard & Mustache Champion? Anyone with a beard and/or mustache? whazzah?

  4. I'll add printing plates to the list.

If you watched the Beckett box breaks, there was one card of a guy who is the beard and mustache growing champion. His name escapes me right now, but you should know the card when you see it.

  5. is someone going to grade the box for us or we do it ourselves

  6. Just a suggestion... we might want to consider dropping the point total for pulling a Baseball Highlight Sketch Card because its currently worth the same as the Creatures of Legend cards (+7) but the odds for the sketch cards is (1:6) while the odds for those Creature cards is (1:48) making those much more rare (....and awesome). I think +3 points would be sufficient because we are getting +5 for both the Hoax cards and National Hero cards which carry (1:12) odds for both so roughly half the points seems fair considering the (1:6) odds... this is getting technical huh? Anyway, thats just a suggestion .... Its awesome we are getting so much participation in this massive box war among the blogging community. Its definitely on next week.

  9. Mark, you're right, and I have changed the scoring for the sketch cards.

  10. Zach- You do it yourself. Add up your score, and scan all cards that are worth points, as proof. You then post the results on your blog, in any format you'd like. I'm probably going to be doing mine pack by pack, and will only scan cards that are either really cool, or are worth points.

  15. Hmm... decisions decisions. I guess I'll take Fukudome with my Cubs.

  16. Brian- Do you have a blog? Sorry, but this is only open to bloggers at this point. Not because I'm a snob, but because that's the only way I could really think of to share and prove your score. All cards that score you points must be scanned and posted. If you do, and I just don't know about it, let me know.

  17. I'd like to get in. Still time? Ryan over at Card Cache just gave me the low down. Is there a deadline as to when you have to get the box? Maybe I need to do more reading . . .

  18. Ah, I see you locked it. I tried to sneak in, but didn't realize you were EDT. I'm all up in the CDT.

If you find it in your heart to include me, I'd love to represent the Crew with Braun. If not, I'll have to watch from the sidelines.

  19. As commissioner, I will allow your entrance.

  20. Hey Beardy, no problem. I've been thinking about starting a blog, but I have too much fun reading all of yours and don't know if I could swing the daily/hourly updates yet. Maybe soon, but I look forward to seeing some great pulls.
