Lost in the Turk-Off shuffle last week were lots of great bubble mailers filled with glorious Orioles. These are 2 of the final 3 cards purchased during the great eBay celebration of May 2009, and are the first (and only) patch cards I own.
First up is a Nick Markakis 2007 SPX Winning Materials gold #80/99, which contains a nice little 3 color patch
The design isn't exactly breathtaking, and to be honest, I've never liked the '07 Winning Materials cards, but this one came on the cheap, and is officially my first patch card.
Next up is a 2009 Piece of History Box Score Memories patch #25/25. This patch is a little less exciting, but we do get some nice stitching, and little spot of black at the bottom.
This card memorializes Nick's achievement on June 6, 2008 where he sparked a 5-run rally and a come from behind Orioles victory with an RBI single. Maybe not the greatest of achievements, but hey, it's the little things that win ballgames. There is probably an 80% chance I was watching that game, but I don't remember. The O's won a lot of games last year by coming back in the late innings.
I've got a lot of mail days and trades to catch up on, since last week I was so busy Turkin' Off. Unfortunately, my work schedule is brutal this week, but I'll do my best to play catch up.
