Cause I'm going to see the Beastie Boys!
They'll be in Baltimore for a one night only gig at a fairly small club on Tuesday night, and my girlfriend was lucky and awesome enough to score us 2 tickets. While I'm not that into them anymore, I sure as hell used to be, and have never seen them before, so I'm pretty psyched about it. Check Your Head was the soundtrack to my freshman year in high school, and along with A Tribe Called Quest, the Beasties served as my intro into the world of hip-hop. Hopefully, it's not depressing seeing how old they are now, and how old I am now, but that's a chance I'll have to take. According to recent set lists, they play a lot of old stuff, so this should be a pretty sweet show.
All of this got me wondering, with all the celebrities and musicians that show up in sports card sets these days, if the Beastie Boys had a card. Surely they must, right? Well, they didn't, but they do now.
This card is from the Beardy Hairitage release, and is the silver ink version hand numbered to 10!
Personally, Ad Rock has always been my favorite.

The Beastie Boys are awesome. Their stuff definately holds up. In fact, I finally figured out what I want for winning the Turk Off...Beastie Boys tickets to a small show. I could never deside between Paul's Boutique and Check Your Head.
ReplyDeleteI had tickets about 8-10 years ago to see The Beastie Boys and Rage. I believe it was Mike D that broke his arm in a nike accident. The tour was cancelled, Rage broke up, and I still haven't seen either. I'm still bummed about it.

I am jealous. That card is awesome. I wish I had one numbered 11 of 10... 'Cause on an awesome scale, that's what it is.
ReplyDeleteI got to see Rage at Coachella a couple of years ago... Too loud, too crowded, too far away...
I guess I am too old. :(
