Completistism

completistism - noun. The act or actions included in being a completist

1959 Topps #48 Orioles Team Checklist. This was it, the last card needed to complete my Orioles team set.

IT IS NOW MINE! MUHUAH-HAHA!

eBay seemed to be my only choice for this puppy, mainly because I never really heard from anyone who had any '59s for trade. It wasn't too expensive, and now my set is complete! Happy early birthday to me!

O So Close To Completion

Another card that can be crossed off the '59 Topps Orioles want list. #192 Charley Beamon has been located, and #529 George Bamberger has been acquired. This puts me one card away from knocking this sucker out.

Here's the updated want list rundown:

#48 Orioles Team Checklist
#192 Charlie Beamon (I might already have this card, but can't seem to locate it) FOUND! 6/29/09
#336 Billy Loes variation w/ trade statement (I already have 336a) Probably not ever going to get this card, so I'm giving up on it
#507 Bob Hale (high #) Acquired! 6/19/09
#529 George Bamberger (high #) Acquired 6/29/09!

If anyone out there has #48, the Orioles checklist/team card, and is willing to trade it, please let me know. I don't even care if it's in good condition, I can always upgrade it later.

One Card Closer

1959 Topps #597 Bob Hale is mine! I was the only bidder, so Bobby came cheap as well. This brings my '59 O's want list down to 4 cards.

#48 Orioles Team Checklist
#192 Charlie Beamon
#336b Billy Loes variation w/ trade statement (I already have 336a)
#529 George Bamberger (high #)

If anyone has any of these for trade, please contact me. I'm so close to finishing this team set, I can taste it.

'59 Topps O's Want List

I've got only 5 cards to go, thanks to a trade that will be shared later today (hopefully). On the off chance that those of you who read this blog have any of these cards, PLEASE EMAIL ME! I'd really like to get this team set completed, and focus on the '56 set.

Trading for these cards would be preferable.... don't make me have to resort to eBay.

There's Lovin' in the Mailbox

First up, we have another Markakis card, this one is a 2009 Topps Finest Green Refractor that I obtained in a trade with Sports Card Info. He had posted a Finest box break last weekend, and as soon as I saw this card, I had to have it. Luckily for me, a trade was arranged, and I sent an '08 Allen & Ginter Ryan Howard relic out immediately. As you may have read on previous posts, I am pretty impressed with the design of this years Finest release, and am definitely glad to add yet another Markakis card to my collection. Many thanks to Sports Card Info!

Up next is Hall of Famer and famous knuckleballer Hoyt Wilhelm. This puts me one card closer to completing the '59 Topps O's team set, and is by far in the finest condition of any vintage card in my collection. The corners are sharp, and aside from being a little off center, this card looks great! Even though this doesn't really matter to me, it's nice when something arrives in the mail and exceeds expectations, especially when it's purchased on eBay. Wilhelm threw a no-hitter as an Oriole, which is pretty cool in and of itself, but the fact that said no hitter was against the Yankees makes it just plain special.

I should have the '59 O's set fairly close to completion once the lot I won on eBay this morning arrives in the mail. It's 27 cards, and I think something like 22 or 23 of them will be new to me. If anyone is interested in some of the doubles, please let me know, I will happily trade them away.
